The SL500 Intelligent Modem Starter Kits have been developed to partner perfectly with the SL500 family of intelligent industrial IoT modem solutions. The starter kits provide all of the accessories that you need to get your SL500 up and running including antennas, serial cables, multi region PSU and power cables. The SL500 modems are a family of low power industrial cellular communication devices which connect remote equipment using RS232 serial to a central server.

The SL500 modems are ready for use with the SirettaLINK management portal, making savings in development and time to market. The SirettaLINK solution means deployment and remote management is simple and gets over the need to spend time developing applications with AT commands on your host platform.

The unique features of the SL500 family of intelligent devices are available across the range. The family of devices share the same set of compatible interface connectors which allows for accessories to be interchanged as required between devices.

The starter kit contains the following components with common interfaces for each SL500 model:

• SMA Male Cellular Antenna
• RJ12 Power Connector Cable
• DB9 RS232 to USB Serial Interface Cable (1.0m)
• USB Serial Interface Cable (0.5m)
• Multi-region Mains PSU (12V @ 2A)

The common interfaces are designed to be compatible with industry standard interfaces and offers access to the full functionality of the modem including legacy RS232 for connection to existing equipment and a high speed USB interface for firmware updates.

There are a number of different SL500 models available which offer a different set of features. Each model has a common set of interfaces:

• SL500-LTEM (GL) – Global LTE Cat M / LTE Cat NB IoT Intelligent Modem Solution
• SL500-LTE1 (EU) – European LTE Cat 1 Intelligent Modem Solution

The SL500 family of modems are available to cover different regions around the world. The SL500-LTEM is a global LTE Cat M / NB IoT solution marked as (GL) and the SL500-LTE1 is a European LTE Cat 1 solution marked as (EU).

The SL500 intelligent modems use an embedded STM32F405 ARM® Cortex® M4 core processor to implement advanced functionality that is used to create a data connection over the LTE cellular network to link a remote application with a server. This runs an application that connects the SL500 modem to the SirettaLINK Management Portal using an encrypted link, where it downloads the configuration profile for connecting to the customers specified resource and posts operational data.

The SL500 family of intelligent modems connect equipment to the LTE Cat 1 / LTE Cat M / LTE Cat NB IoT networks and provide backwards compatibility to the existing 3G / UMTS and 2G / GSM cellular networks. The modems operate in a low power state which makes them ideal for use in industrial IoT applications today and for long term future developments.
