Description

KC R100B 8GHz Log-Periodic Antenna

Product Details

The R100B type antenna is a printed LDPA , which is known as the stock antenna for field strength meter, spectrum analyzer and reconnaissance receiver. Usually it’s used for field strength assessment, signal source detection and radio direction finding, etc. Its wide frequency range, portability and its solid build, it’s suitable for handheld usage both indoors and outdoors.

1.1 Frequency Range: 380MHz…8GHz
The performance of R100B is ideal within the frequency range of 380MHz-2.5GHz and 4.5-8.0GHz attributing to its relatively consistent gain, while the performance would slightly drop within the frequency range of 2.5-4.5GHz.When it comes to below 380MHz, the gain level decreases rapidly. As for the frequency above 8.0GHz, both the return loss and gain decrease are slow. Generally speaking, its performance is acceptable within 350MHz-10GHz under relatively less demanding scenario.

1.2 Rated Gain: 5dBi
When the frequency is under 3GHz, the typical gain level of R100B is 5dBi. As the frequency lowers, the gain level rises, and it reaches its peak level of 7.6dBi around 800MHz. As the frequency approaches 3GHz, the gain level would decline to 2dBi gently. When the frequency is above 3GHz, the gain level jitters around 2dBi and it’s basically stable. Within 3.5GHz-4GHz the gain level comes to its lowest value, which should be considered as 0dBi. Note that all the gain level data above is measured under the usage of the original RF cable.

1.3 Return loss: 10dB
The rated input resistance of the antenna is 50Ω, and the return loss would fluctuate when it is attached to 50Ω emission source. For most frequency band, the return loss would be around 10dB or less, with a VSWR of 2, approximately. The VSWR increases rapidly as the frequency goes below 350MHz.

1.5 Directional Sensitivity
R100B can be used for radio direction finding under the frequency between 380MHz-8.5GHz without strict requirements. It exerts a decent sensitivity of direction of the signal source when being held single-handedly and changes directions along with the body. Within the range of 380MHz-3.5Ghz and 4.5-6GHz, whether or not a human body is involved doesn’t affect its good sensitivity for direction, which can be used for intersecting positioning. When above 6GHz, the side lobes are intense, narrow and strong, thus the main lobes, whose electric level changes mildly, should be used for radio direction finding. Moreover, when the frequency is between 3.5-4.5GHz, the main lobes bifurcate, and there exists a deviation between direction of its maximum electric level and its geometric direction. Consequently, experience should be applied to this scenario.
