The ZETA-NEP-LTEM (GL) is a cutting edge, low power industrial modem with general purpose interfaces. It will connect equipment to the new global LTE Cat M and NB IoT networks as they become available also providing backwards compatibility to the existing global 2G / GSM cellular network. The modem operates in a low power state which makes it ideal for use in industrial IoT applications today and for long term future developments.
The unique feature of the ZETA-NEP-LTEM (GL) allows it to run in a low power state due to its intelligent power saving design whilst monitoring general purpose inputs and driving full specification outputs. Additionally the range offers interface options including legacy RS232 for connection to existing equipment and a high speed USB interface.
The multi-function header also offers the following interfaces to the user:
- 3 x General Purpose Inputs (0V-42V tolerant)
- 2 x General Purpose Outputs (0V-42V @ 1A)
- 1 x Analogue to Digital Interface (0-42V range)
- 1 x RS232 debug serial port (3-wire interface)
- 1 x Peripheral Power Interface / Output Supply (Vcc)
The powerful C development environment reduces redundancy and lowers system component costs, allowing developers to maximise the power of their application directly on the device and eliminating the requirement for an external microcontroller. The application programming environment can provide cloud edge processing for interfacing to equipment in the field and offers the ability to make intelligent decisions without requiring a permanent online connection to a gateway server.
As a result the ZETA-NEP-LTEM (GL) lends itself to rapid proof-of-concept developments with minimal investment, providing fast time to market and maximum scalability offering intelligence and decision making at the cloud edge.

Mode of operation | 7V | 12V | 42V |
Low power mode enabled registered on network in idle state | 5.19 mA | 4321 uA | 1898 uA |
Low power mode enabled registered on network with socket connected in idle state | 5.42 mA | 4767 uA | 2114 uA |
Normal power mode with registered IP address in idle state | 17.3 mA | 11.3 mA | 5.56 mA |
Normal power mode with IP socket connected and transmitting data | 128.5 mA | 82.8 mA | 45.1 mA |
Normal power mode with active data call in progress | 208.3 mA | 131.1 mA | 69.2 mA |
Using the low power function on the Siretta Industrial Modem allows the device to consume very little power in its idle state. The modem will remain in the idle state for the majority of time and when there is data to send, the modem will enter normal power state for the duration of the transmission. This can reduce the overall power consumption in some applications by up to 97%.
